Annual Cyber Threat Report 2024-2025

NEWS

The Australian Signals Directorate today released the 2024-25 Annual Cyber Threat Report. The report details the increase in activity by state-sponsored cyber actors against Australian infrastructure, government and businesses, along with increased ransomware attacks and data breaches. The report details the increasing costs of ransomware and credential theft to all Australians.

All of these activities continue to leverage unpatched and unmanaged vulnerabilities in technology, while security practices of Australian businesses and individuals lag the threats posed.

The report notes that “The threat environment combined with our operational observations set out in this report underscores the need for all Australian individuals, private and public entities to take action to uplift our cyber resilience at every level.”. It continues on to encourage everyone to lift their cybersecurity game, as hackers continue to lift their practices higher each report.
